Writers Ignited is a year-round program combining a library of exclusive writing resources, with a gamified writing system based on cutting edge science and proven strategies.
These are the strategies I (Sarah) personally used to complete hundreds of fiction and nonfiction writing projects (books, blog posts, stories, songs) for fun and pay, and many other writers have also used these techniques to get motivated, stay motivated, and build their writing careers.
Whatever your level of experience, this course will help point you in the right direction, and give you a friendly hand along the way as well. Take a look to see how it all works:
How this Course is Organized
Writers Ignited is unlike any writing course you’ve ever seen. That’s because it’s not just ONE course, it’s an expanding LIBRARY of courses, organized into tracks and combined with regular gamified challenges to get you on track with your writing.
It’s not always easy being a writer. Nothing worthwhile comes easy, after all. But who says it can’t it be easier, and fun, to boot?
That’s what Writers Ignited is designed to do: provide you with the resources you need to become a prolific, professional writer, and challenge you to be your best self. Here’s how it works:
The Writers Ignited Library & Mini Courses
The Writers’ Ignited content consists of two major components: the Library and the Writing Courses.
The Library consists of concentrated book notes on some of the most interesting and helpful books for writers. If you’re looking for book recommendations, or want to try out the ideas within a book before you buy it, head over to the library and take a look at what we have to offer. The library is always expanding as new book notes are added.
The Writing Courses are organized into 4+1 = 5 tracks, as described in the sidebar. Each track contains articles, mini-courses, and resources to help you become a more powerful, professional writer. Feel free to work your way through the writing courses at your own pace.
The tracks are organized in the recommended order of study (with an additional 5th Story Writing track for fiction writers, which can be taken at any time), and will be expanding over time as more content is added.
The Writing Challenges
The Writers’ Ignited year is broken up into six sprint-rest combinations, that work like this:
During Ignition Months (Jan/March/May/July/Sept/Nov), you will be challenged to write EVERY DAY.
What you write is up to you: It could be one article for your blog, a thousand words of your novel, a recipe for your cookbook, whatever. The point is to write consistently so that by the time the month is over, you have a complete, or near-complete project you can be proud of.
To support you during Ignition Months, Writers Ignited offers:
- Different challenges throughout the year for both fiction and non-fiction writers.
- Daily check-ins with embedded variable rewards, designed to motivate you to write every single day.
- End-of-the-month exclusive rewards for WINners who successfully complete their goals for the month!
During Inter-Months (Feb/April/June/Aug/Oct), the focus is on rest and recovery.
Don’t write as much or as frequently. Go out and play with your kids. If you don’t have any, borrow someone’s kids and have a blast at a park. Or do anything else you like.
If you didn’t quite finish your monthly challenge during the prior Ignition Month, and you would like to give it another go, you can also use the Inter-Months to do so. The Writers Ignited monthly rewards change a few times each year to keep things exciting, but they will repeat during Inter-Months to make sure you don’t miss out!
Inter-Months are also the perfect time for you to hone your skills by studying the material in the Writing Course Tracks and the WINners’ Library.
Write a Brilliant Novel (Optional, for aspiring novelists): For WINners who aim to complete a novel, there are three 3-month-long novel-writing sprints throughout the year that coincide with the National Novel Writing Month challenge and their spinoffs (NaNoWriMo, Camp NaNo).
In the first month, you will be taken step-by-step through the novel planning process with weekly support Q&As. In the final two months, you rejoin your fellow WINners and write daily until you finish your novel!
